How to Repair a Leaking Metal Tile Roof
The roof is a building component that functions to protect from rain and hot sun. However, often due to poor roof installation, it often leaks when it rains. So, how do you fix it? Come on, take a look at the following review.
1. Leak at the Roof (Joint)
Make repairs by replacing, refinishing or checking the roof nails or SDS (Self Drilling Screw) screws. Exercise your own judgment to select the repair alternative above. Use Sealant (Silicone Watershield) on roof SDS nails or screws if necessary.
2. Leaks in the gutters
Check whether the gutter leak is large or small in diameter. If the diameter is small, patch it using an additive (patching) material which is widely sold in building materials stores. If the leak is large in diameter, please replace your gutter with a new one
3. Leaks in metal roof tiles
If a leak occurs at the joint between metal roof sheets, straighten the arrangement of the metal roof sheets and re-nail/screw the SDS firmly and neatly. If the leak is only in the SDS nails or screws, it can be overcome by applying Sealant (Silicon) to the SDS nails or screws so that water does not seep in.
4. Leaks in wall flashing
If there is a leak in the wall flashing sheet, then repair it by tidying up or replacing the wall flashing sheet. If this happens to the plaster, it can be repaired by applying water proofing material.
After repairs are made we have to check again the next day
Carry out monitoring on rainy days, so that it can be proven whether repairs have been successful or not. If there are still leaks, carry out the inspection again and repair the steps above more thoroughly and neatly. Hope it is useful!
