To Keep Your Home Safe During the Rainy Season

The rainy season is coming soon. For some people, the arrival of the rainy season is directly proportional to the increasing worry about things that will happen to their homes, such as leaking roofs, water seepage on walls and floors, and even flooding. In order to minimize worries about this, it is necessary to anticipate so that your home is safe when the rainy season arrives. Here are some tips that can be applied to protect your home so that it remains safe when it rains.

CHECK THE ROOF

Inspection of the roof of the house is often overlooked. Awareness of this is only felt necessary when there is a leak during the rainy season. To anticipate this, carry out regular checks, at least twice a year, on the roof of your house. Routine maintenance of this roof will make your worries about leaks during the rainy season disappear. During the inspection, make sure there are no cracks in the roof ridge, no holes in the gutters, and no broken or rotten tiles. If necessary, coat the roof with waterproof paint.

CHECK THE WALLS OF THE HOUSE

The walls of the house often experience water seepage, especially if the walls of your house are adjacent to your neighbor's house. For that, make sure the gutters are installed perfectly. Prevent the walls of your house from excessive moisture. If necessary, repaint them using waterproof paint.

CHECK THE WATER DRAIN

A clogged water channel will cause quite a serious problem when the rainy season arrives. Usually, this is only realized when the high volume of water during the rainy season is unable to pass through the water channel, so that the water overflows out of the channel. While the rain has not fallen intensively, it is a good idea to check the water drainage in your house. Make sure that the water that flows does not return to your house.

DOORS AND WINDOWS

The position of the door, especially the window, is often always reached by splashes from the roof, especially if the rain is accompanied by strong winds. To prevent rainwater from seeping through the gaps in the doors and windows, make sure both parts can be closed tightly. On the terrace, perhaps a wide roof can be built. Meanwhile, a canopy can be made on the window to anticipate the entry of rainwater.

FURNITURE AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT

Flooding is the worst impact of high rainfall intensity when the season arrives. If your residence is in a flood-prone area, immediately take inventory of your furniture and electronic equipment. Secure these items to a higher place. Don't wait for rain or flooding to do this to minimize unwanted things
